News:  October is a transformative month and as Catholics we honor many saintly feast days, celebrate life, and pay special reverence to the rosary.  I as a devotee of Fatima additionally associate October with the Miracle of the Sun. The very miracle our Lady prophesied would take place on October 13th, 1917. I compare it to Rev. 12:1, “A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun;” knowing that many skeptics fail to make this connection. However for those of us who have eyes that see, a question arises, is “the woman clothed with the sun,” our Lady of Fatima? Many have argued as such, while others dismiss it. I suggest that those who acknowledge it as more than a coincidence to go deeper, and  read the full chapter for further context. I believe that when one does they will find it hard to deny that we are experiencing a sort of fulfillment of this passage. I am not implying that the end of the world will take place tomorrow, or that we are living in Apocalyptic times as outlined in the bible. But let us not forget what our faith teaches us and the catechism asserts. The world as we know it will pass away. We believe and look forward to the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as dogma. Jesus will come to judge the world in the end.  In spite of the darkness overshadowing the world today we should not be discouraged or be afraid.  As bad as things seem, our God is good, and so much greater than the evil that persists. This was the theme of the memorial that the nation celebrated in honor of Charlie Kirk. A young Christian man of 32 years who as an evangelist was gunned down on a college campus in early September.  His death bears witness to the core of our belief as followers of Christ, that in the end the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love prevail.  The greatest of these being love. It was truly edifying to see Charlie’s wife/widow stand in front of the world to forgive the man who viciously murdered her husband and the father of her children. Although she found it extremely difficult, it was an act of pure Christian mercy, and that is the real power working in the world today.  Mercy/Forgiveness is just the thing that will heal this broken world, it is the spark that will ignite a true awakening among the offspring of the woman. “Let not your hearts be troubled,” as we seek answers to the ultimate question of our time; What is the explanation for evil?  I believe the answer can be found in the bible from the beginning of the fall of man in conjunction with the last book in the bible which is the passage quoted above.  Genesis: 3:15 is referred to as the protoevangelium, the first gospel where God promises he will save mankind from the evil one. God speaking to the Serpent says:  “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers;”  We see from scriptures that the devil from the beginning has acquired spiritual offspring. The Ancient Serpent together with the fallen angels have groomed a species of mankind’s lost souls throughout history with the sole purpose of destroying humanity. But there is another passage in the middle of the bible, where “at the foot of the cross stood;” Jn 19:26, in which the Master proclaims; “Woman behold your son, Then to his disciple’s, behold thy mother.”  The Nicodemus question is answered, we are born again becoming offspring of the Woman.
