News: In 1916 An Angel appeared to the three shepherd children on three separate occasions. One visit was around this time of year in the Cabeco, a cave on the slopes of which the sheep grazed not far from their village of Aljustrel. I believe it was to prepare the children for the visit of Our Blessed Mother the following year. The Angel introduced himself by saying “I am the Angel of Peace, pray with me.” The Angel taught them some prayers that we associate with the Fatima event. One prayer Sr. Lucia would frequently repeat for the rest of her life, “I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love thee, and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, adore, hope, or love thee.” they would prostrate themselves as they said this prayer by touching the ground with their forehead as the Angel had taught them. Sometimes they would remain in this state for some time. The Angel said “pray thus, the Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications.” In the memoirs of venerable Sr. Lucia we learn about these events as she describes them. The second visit from the Angel was in mid summer, and the children were playing by the well in the back of their homes when the Angel appeared and said; “What are you doing? Pray, Pray a great deal! The Hearts of Jesus and Mary have merciful designs for you.” Offer prayers and sacrifices to the Most High.” The final visit the Angel would administer Holy Communion to them, Lucia received the Host; Jacinta and Francisco the Precious Blood that dripped from the Host into a Chalice that the Angel appeared with. The angel said to them; “Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ horridly insulted by the ingratitude men. Make reparations for their crimes and console your God.” The following is the prayer he taught them on this occasion; ”Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, I adore you profoundly and offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the earth, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences with which He Himself is offended. And of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners.” We often neglect to see the symbolic meaning behind the two Hearts of Jesus and Mary join together. We celebrate the great feast of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 27th & 28th we will have mass and all night Eucharistic adoration to honor them, and as a reminder of the messages at Fatima to make sacrifices, and reparation for the offenses committed against the two Hearts joined as one.
